Super Duplex Steel S32750/S32760 pipes have a PREN value exceeding 40, combining the best features of super-ferritic and super-austenitic steels. They offer excellent resistance to chloride SCC, pitting, crevice, general, and carbide-related intergranular corrosion. They also boast high strength, impact resistance, high thermal conductivity, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion compared to super-austenitic steels.

Fabricability: These pipes should be hot worked within 1250-1000°C, followed by solution annealing at 1100°C and rapid quenching. Cold forming is possible using standard stainless steel methods, though higher yield strength demands greater forming forces, larger bending radii, and more allowance for spring back. Processes like deep drawing and stretch forming are challenging.

Weldability: Super Duplex Steel offers good weldability, compatible with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Plasma Arc Welding (PAW), and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). Surfaces should be clean before welding, and preheating is unnecessary except to avoid condensation. Heat input should range between 0.3-1.5KJ/mm, with the interpass temperature kept below 150°C. The root must be shielded with commercial argon or 90% nitrogen/10% hydrogen purging gas for optimal corrosion resistance.

Corrosion Resistance: With low carbon content, these pipes resist carbide-related intergranular corrosion, reducing carbide precipitation risks during heat treatment. Their critical pitting temperature (CPT) surpasses that of 904L. They excel in resisting crevice corrosion, SCC, and uniform corrosion by organic acids like formic and acetic acid.
